“We got the puck in deep and Isaac got on it, put some pressure on and ended up jamming it in the net,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Mike Donaghue.  “It was a good, competitive, hard goal.”

The Otters took the lead just 3:08 into the game on a goal by Isaac Young, assisted by Michael DeBrito and Andrew Johnson.  Three minutes later Tory Lund tied the game for the home team with an assist from Connor HackerGavin Henkemeyer scored to give Sartell/Sauk Rapids a 2-1 lead.  Assists went to Lacen VanDenBerg and Will Yu.

Fergus Falls took a 3-2 lead with a pair of second period goals.  The first one came from DeBrito with an assist from Landon Thacker at 4:31.  At 9:48, Young notched his second goal of the game, this one, unassisted.

A power play goal by Thomas Franke at 8:35 of the third was setup by VanDenBerg and pulled the Storm’N’Sabres even at 3 goals apiece.

“They had another power play in the final two minutes of regulation, but Ben Swanson stood tall in the net and we were able to kill it off,” noted Donaghue.  “I thought Isaac Young was strong on the puck tonight and that led to some good things happening.”

Swanson had 28 saves and the Otters finished with 28 shots on goal compared to 31 for Sartell/Sauk Rapids.

Fergus Falls (2-1) will travel to Breckenridge on Tuesday night.
