The Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) is proud to announce Steve Jipson of Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley High School as the 2021 winner of the Jerry Kill Power of Influence Award. Coach Jipson has been a staple in the CGB community his entire life. He graduated from Graceville High School in 1980 and returned home after college. Steve coached at all levels of the athletic program. As co-head coach, Steve guided the 2012 CGB football squad to the 9-Man State Championship. During Coach Jipson’s sixteen seasons as head coach, his Wolverine’s earned over 100 victories.

Steve was a transformational coach who put students first. He believed in doing everything in his power to help them be successful athletes and people. A priority he continued as he battled cancer over the past year while he continued coaching. He has been a role model, motivator, and friend to countless young people and adults throughout his career. Fellow coaches talk about Steve’s class, grace and humility in both victory and defeat.

Unfortunately, Coach Jipson’s battle with cancer ended on December 28, 2020. As a testament to his powerful influence on his community, over 1000 people showed up at a recent benefit for Steve, which is more than the populations of the Clinton, Graceville, and Beardsley communities combined. Coach Jipson’s positive impact on the CGB community will continue for years to come. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Congratulations to Coach Steve Jipson, his family, his players, and the CGB community on Steve being named the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Jerry Kill Power of Influence Award winner for 2021.
