Cardinals Force 18 Otter Turnovers in 57-41 Win

The Alexandria boys’ basketball team forced 18 Fergus Falls turnovers and stymied the Otters with pressure defense throughout the game as they posted a 57-41 victory on Tuesday night in Fergus Falls.

The Cardinals led by as many as eleven in the first half and held a 28-20 halftime lead.  They increased their lead to as many as 17 points in the second half.

Alexandria had three players in double digits, led by Colton Roderick with 12 points.  Erik Hedstrom added 11 and Kristen Hoskins had 10.  Carter Steffensmeier pulled down 10 rebounds in the game and Roderick grabbed 7 boards.  Steffensmeier and Hoskins each had 4 assists, while Hedstrom and Roderick had 4 steals apiece.

Leaders for Fergus Falls were Chance Fazio with 23 points and Dominic Aguilar with 8.  The Otters struggled to shoot the ball, hitting only 2-of-15 from behind the arc and connecting on just 25% (15-60) field goal attempts on the night.  Fazio had a team high 8 rebounds and Luke Newman dished out 4 assists.

Fergus Falls (1-1) will play at Brainerd Friday night.

Alexandria (2-0) travels to Sartell on Friday.
