“Tonight was a hard fought physical win, we did a much better job on the boards than our game we had on Saturday,” said Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “The Chargers had us on our heels the whole game. We would get a 10 point lead and then they would cut it to 4. I believe that happed 3 different times in the second half. Gotta hand it to them, they would never go away.”

Liz Lukken turned in a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Brooke Hovland contributed 12 points and 4 rebounds, Mo Bugbee had 8 points and 5 steals, Jo Bugbee added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals, and Lydia Baker had 8 points and 7 rebounds.

“Liz had a great game for us, we will need more of that out of her,” noted Coach Hovland. “We have some injuries and we will need people to step up and give us quality minutes.”

Mikenna Pattrin contributed a double-double (16 points, 13 rebounds) for the Chargers.  Bailey Schaefer addedd 15 points, 4 blocks, 3 assists and 2 steals.  Sydney Schaefer contributed 8 points.  Brandon-Evansville shot 42% (23-54) from the field.

“We played with much better energy and effort tonight against a very good Underwood team,” stated Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Zach Traphagen. “I’m proud of the way our girls battled until the very end. It was a competitive, physical basketball game. We obviously have tons of room to improve moving forward, but we definitely took a step in the right direction tonight.”

The Chargers (0-2) will host Rothsay on Thursday, while Underwood (3-0) will host Parkers Prairie.
