The Pelican Rapids girls’ basketball team built a 30-19 halftime lead, however, Henning came back strong to take a 36-33 lead early in the second half before the Vikings got the upper hand down the stretch to record a 59-51 victory over the Hornets.
Anna Stephenson poured in a game high 22 points to lead the home team. Greta Tollefson added 15 and Morgan Korf scored 12 points.
Henning was led by 19 points from Ellie Dague, 12 from Kylie Frederick and 10 from Morgan Weber.
The Vikings (2-0) will play at Lake Park-Audubon Thursday and at Frazee on Saturday afternoon.
Henning (1-1) will play at Verndale on Tuesday night and then will host Bertha-Hewitt in their home opener on Friday.
