The Rothsay Boys basketball team hosted Underwood in their Little Eight Conference and season opener on Friday night.  The Tiger boys took a 29-18 lead at the half and completed the game with a 49-37 victory.

Rothsay was led by Colby Larson with 11 points and Tanner Heier with 10.

"Could definitely tell it was our first game in a long time,” commented Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  “We did not shoot the ball very well and could not convert on our forced turnovers. We did play with tremendous effort and I thought our boys did a great job of staying mentally tough when we couldn't get shots to fall."

Underwood turned the ball over 31 times, leading to 22 points.  They were led by Krosby Aasness with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.  Bryce Jorgenson added 10 points and 5 rebounds and Joey Kupfer finished with 6 points, 8 rebounds and a pair of steals.

“We turned the ball over way too many times tonight,” stated Head Coach Evan Meece of the Rockets. “They applied pressure, but there were far too many unforced turnovers. Our guards need to learn from this and take better care of the ball moving forward.  We also had too many unforced fouls where we were in the wrong spot or too late getting there.  We’ll work hard moving forward and fix the mistakes.”
