Battlers Pull Away from Chargers in Second Half

Battle Lake opened the 2021 girls’ basketball season with an impressive 61-50 home court victory over Brandon-Evansville on Thursday night.  The Battlers led 28-25 at halftime and took control of the game early in the second half.

“We were able to stretch the lead to as much as fifteen points in the second half,” commented Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso.  “It was a really fun night of basketball and I was really proud of the effort and hustle from the girls.”

Grace VanErp led the Battlers with 22 points and Emmie Lundquist added 16.  Ady Tysdal joined them in double digits with ten.

Leading scorers for Brandon-Evansville were Mikenna Pattrin with 20 and Bailey Schaefer with 13.

Battle Lake will play at Parkers Prairie on Tuesday night, while Brandon-Evansville travels to Underwood for a battle between the reigning co-champs of the Little Eight Conference.
