The Ashby boys’ basketball team finished with a 19-9 overall record and a 10-2 mark in the Little Eight Conference last season, sharing the LEC title with Parkers Prairie.  Jaden Norby reached 1000 career points and 1000 career rebounds during the season.  Norby leads four returning starters and nine returning letter winners as the Arrows look to challenge in the Little Eight and in Section 6A.

Norby (Wing/Post), Ashton Ecker (Guard), Derrek Bartz (Guard), Bobby Anderson (Post/Wing), Jake Rein (Wing) and Miles Hoff (Post) are all seniors.  Juniors coming back include Jacob Cook (Wing/Post), Hunter Norby (Wing/Guard) and Torin Olson (Guard).  Norby and Ecker are team captains.

“We have experienced talent,” said third year Head Coach John Holsten.  “We’ll need player improvement as the season progresses to provide depth.”

Seniors Zach Buck (Guard/Wing) and Colby Finkelson (Wing) and junior Carson Spangler (Guard) will also be looking for playing time.

Jeremy Quernemoen enters his second year as an assistant to Holsten.

Holsten points to Parkers Prairie, Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, Brandon-Evansville and Rothsay as teams to watch in the Little Eight Conference.

As far as Section 6A, Holsten sees West Central Area, Hancock, Henning, New York Mills, Park Christian School and Mahnomen-Waubun joining the mix of top teams.
