Randy Hansen begins his third year leading the Fergus Falls boys’ swimming and diving team.  Jason Zosel will serve as his assistant, Jason Schuetzle is back to head the divers and Andrew Kowalski returns at the Middle School level.

“We have a good group of leaders in our senior class,” said Coach Hansen.  “They will really help the younger guys fit in.”

Varsity letter winners returning include seniors Ryan Aanerud (Backstroke, Captain), Sean Edman (Sprints, Captain) and Max Nacke (Sprints), junior Matt Pajari (Distance), sophomores Tyler Kubela (Butterfly, Sprints), Christian Reed (Distance) and Micah Zosel (Breaststroke), and freshman Logan Rott (Butterfly, Breaststroke).  Adrian Blondeau is also expected to step into a starting role at the varsity level.

“There are always a few surprises each season,” said Hansen.  “There is usually a lot of growth between eighth and ninth grade.  We need guys to be as versatile as possible, which will help our depth.  Missing state cut time in the 400 free relay by .39 seconds still hurts.  We will use that as motivation this year.”

Hansen says Sartell and Alexandria are the teams to beat in the Central Lakes Conference.

“It will be fun to see some of the guys step into new roles,” concluded Hansen.  “We have a dedicated group of sophomores and they will be expected to contribute a lot this year.  It will certainly be a different season, starting a month later than normal.  I am just thankful that it appears we will at least have a chance to compete.”
