Taylor Fuhs is in his sixth year with the Rothsay Tigers boys’ basketball program and his team is coming off a 5-23 season, which included 3 Little Eight Conference wins, returning a solid nucleus of six letter winners.  Chris Heier and Steve Fuhs will serve as assistant coaches.

Senior Colby Larson (Guard) is joined by juniors Tanner Heier (Guard), Sam Danielson (Guard), Jeff Kulack (Center) and Chris Carrillo (Forward), along with freshman Matthew Danielson (Guard) as returning letter winners.  Heier set a single season record for 3-pointers made with 71 during his sophomore season.

Sophomore Mason Kadel (Forward) and freshman Carson Weiers (Guard) are also expected to see varsity court time.

“Within the program there is a lot of optimism heading into this season with six returning contributors from last season,” said Coach Fuhs.  “Returning our top 4 scorers gives us a good nucleus coming back to lead us.  Even though we have a lot of experience we are still very young with only one senior.  As a program out hope is to continue to progress as individuals and as a unit.  Our depth will always be a concern with our lower numbers and especially this year with the possibility of playing with not all our players available.  Our boys are excited to get on the court and compete as soon as we can!”

Fuhs assesses the conference and Section 6A races this way, “There are a lot of newcomers to the Little Eight this year with a lot of talent graduating last season.  Ashby and Hillcrest return some very talented players and Parkers Prairie seems to always reload.  In Section 6A, Ashby, West Central Area, New York Mills and Mahnomen/Waubun should really compete for the title.”
