The Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team returns their top three scorers from last season and their starting goaltender is also back.  The Otters graduated only two skaters last season so have good numbers returning which should make for solid depth on the ice.

“With the return of junior Michael DeBrito (10g, 18a), senior Isaac Young (11g, 13a) and junior Cole Zierden (15g, 7a), we should have a good scoring punch at the top of our lineup,” acknowledged Head Coach Mike Donaghue.  “We also return sophomore Ben Swanson who took over the starting position in the net.  He posted very good numbers as a freshman with a .900 save percentage and a 3.2 goals against average.  We will also return senior defensemen Ian Richards and Colton Partain.  They have had great experience the last two seasons and they will anchor our defensive core.  With the depth we have we will be confident to play any line at any time.  If we can get the consistency and work ethic from the entire team each day, we will be a competitive hockey team.”

Isaac Johnson (SO) will also be counted on to add some scoring punch up front, and the Otters are welcoming sophomore Colin Becker on the blue line.  Becker moved to Fergus Falls from Roseville during the summer.  Other forwards on the roster are seniors Maveric Kalenberg, Matthew Niblock, Sterling Andrews and Logen Schake, juniors Landon Thacker and Carter Thielke, sophomores Jax Katzenmeyer, Bo Bring and Joey Johnson, and freshmen Kellen Stenstrom, Milton Tungseth and Austin Welle.  Defensemen include senior Wyatt Goetz, juniors Andrew Johnson, Quinn Werner and Owen Babolian, sophomore Ethan McGuiness and freshman Wyatt Briese.  The Otters have two freshmen goalies to go along with Swanson, in Brady Metcalf and Ryan Nelson.

Trevor Larson, Joey Kalan and Scott Christison will serve as Assistant Coaches.

Donaghue, now in his 17th year as Head Coach, says Little Falls is the favorite for the Section 6A title.
