Jon Lillquist has coached boys’ basketball in Sebeka for a quarter of a century and his Trojans are looking to improve on a 7-20 season as they enter the 2020-2021 campaign.  They will need to replace Kolby Kiser, who averaged 16 point per game and 9.7 rebounds per game, but they do have five returning letter winners to build around.

Seniors Dawson Bullock (Guard), Mason Heino (Guard), David Avelsgard (Guard) and Spencer Lake (Center), are joined by junior Isaac Kyllonen (Guard) as returners with extensive varsity experience.

Key varsity newcomers are sophomores Brody Connor (Guard) and Colton Besett (Forward), and freshmen Jasper Hosey (Forward), Christian Berg (Guard), Zach Thornton (Guard) and Teagen Lee (Forward).

“We won’t have a lot of height, but we will have a good group of guards that should be able to shoot the three well,” commented Lillquist.  “We will need to rely on playing team basketball on both offense and defense.  We will really need to rebound well to be successful.”

Lillquist will be assisted by Jeff Lake and Luke Roberts.

Lillquist lists New York Mills at the top of the Park Region Conference, with Nevis and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa as the teams to beat in Section 5A.
