With four returning starters among their six returning letter winners, the Frazee boys’ basketball team is poised to make an impact in the always tough Heart O’ Lakes Conference.  The Hornets finished 10-15 a year ago and fifth-year Head Coach Hunter Graham said his team competed at a high level and improved defensively throughout the year, both of which bode well for success in 2020-2021.

Cole Fleisher was lost to graduation, but seniors Jack Courneya (PG/SG), Reid Ecker (Center) and Broden Fleisher (Forward) are all returning starters.  They are joined by freshman Justin Courneya (PG/SG) and juniors George Flynn (Forward) and Dylan Selly (Guard) to form a solid nucleus of players with extensive varsity floor time.

“We have four returning starters, good senior leadership, and a lot of height and athleticism,” said Graham.  “We play a tough HOL schedule and our success this season will depend on our defense and teamwork.”

Graham looks for Nate Johanssen (JR, Center) and Ryan Kangas (FR, Forward) to also compete for varsity playing time.

Perham, Pelican Rapids, Breckenridge and DGF are listed by Graham as the top teams in the HOL, while Fergus Falls joins the mix as top teams in Section 8AA.

Graham will be assisted by Jerid Courneya and Katrina Courneya.
