Hannah Clark begins her fourth year as Head Coach of the Hillcrest girls’ basketball team and the Comets return four players with extensive varsity experience from their team of a year ago.   Team captains are senior guards Mackenzie Foss, Cassy Twedt and Audra Ewan.  Sophomore guard Madison Foss is the other returning letter winner.

“Winning 3 of our last 4 regular season games was fun for our team and it really helped the girls gain confidence going into post season play,” said Clark.  “We will have a lot more experience and depth at the guard positions than we have in the past, but we will be small and will have to experiment with different rotations as we are limited in numbers at the 4/5 positions.  Our outside shooting has really improved over the summer and I think we will have a lot of different scoring options in our offense.”

Sophomore guard Madison Ballweg and juniors Regan Wiertzema (Forward), Abby Heikes (Guard) and Hope Adams (Forward) should see a lot of court time, while juniors Alivia Holmquist (Forward/Guard) and Natalie Zwiers (Forward) will be competing for varsity minutes.

“We are hoping to increase our number of wins this season and improve the stats in multiple areas such as shooting percentage, assist/turnover ratio, and points allowed,” noted Coach Clark.  We have great leadership in our three captains and I am looking forward to a fun season, however long it may be.”

Emily Frustol and Josh Mohagen will serve as assistants.

Clark says Henning is the top team in Section 6A.  Parkers Prairie and Underwood will be the teams to beat in the Little Eight Conference, while Hancock and West Central Area are the favorites in the Pheasant Conference.
