Katie Strommen plays volleyball and basketball for the Fergus Falls Otters and when she isn’t competing in athletics she remained busy with Wyldlife and Younglife, NHS, Math League and Soccer, where she served as team manager.

“Katie is a great young lady with a wonderful work ethic,” stated Head Girls Basketball Coach Brad Strand.  “She challenges herself to be at her best every time she steps on the basketball floor.  Katie is a very strong student, taking multiple college classes and this carries over to her ability to help us in practice.  She always brings a positive attitude and a smile to practice.  Katie has helped at our youth camps and does a tremendous job of interacting with our younger girls.  We are looking forward to Katie’s senior year of basketball.”

Her favorite quote is from Nido Qubein who said, “Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.”

“Being in sports has helped me make lifelong friendships and taught me what kind of person I want to be and how I can achieve that,” said Strommen.

Volleyball Coach Sabrina Noon commented that “Katie is a player who constantly goes above and beyond what is asked.  She has a very powerful way of lifting her team up by leading with grace and kindness on and off the court.  She will be great missed next season.”

Strommen says that beating Perham in the second round of the volleyball playoffs last season is her top sports memory.

Strommen plans to attend FLBC for two years, then pursue her four-year degree with a major in General Pediatrics.  Economics and Math are her favorite High School subjects.
