Verndale senior Jaden Finck played football, wrestled and competed in track and field for the Pirates.  He also lists fishing and hunting as his hobbies.

Football Coach Mike Mahlen said this about Jaden, “Jaden was a team leader and a force on both sides of the ball.  On offense he played tight end and moved to fullback when our top two running backs went down.  On defense, he controlled the line of scrimmage, and he made many key plays on both offense and defense.”

Finck isn’t sure if he will be attending college, but if he does he may compete in either wrestling or football.  His post schooling plans are to start his own construction business.  History and Science are his favorite high school subjects.

“Being involved in sports has helped me be a better person,” said Finck.  “Just being able to be a part of my senior team will be a great memory of high school athletics.”

“Jaden has been a great asset to the BHVPP wrestling program,” said Head Wrestling Coach Bill Wagner.  “He is willing to grind it out on the mat with anyone.  Stepping up in practice every day with a three time state champion is testament in itself.  He has set goals for himself and is in the weight room to make them happen.  One or two additions in his arsenal and he will be extremely tough to beat.”

Finck has this word of advice to underclassmen, “Enjoy it while it lasts, you only get every day once.”
