Sebeka senior David Avelsgard participated in football, basketball and baseball for the Trojans.  He was also a member of the choir and was a nominee for the Sourcewell Student of Character award.

“My top sports moment would definitely be playing in the state baseball tournament my sophomore year,” noted Avelsgard.  “Being in sports has impacted my life in a positive way because I have built friendships that will last a lifetime and I will always have memories to look back on.  It has also taught me all sorts of life lessons.”

Basketball Coach Jon Lillquist says, “David exemplifies what school spirit should be in a small school  He’s always the biggest fan for not only our program, but also for all Sebeka sports.”

Avelsgard plans on attending Concordia College in Moorhead and majoring in Communications/Journalism.  His favorite high school subjects are History and English.

“This was David’s first year of playing football and he was able to catch on quickly,” stated Sebeka Head Football Coach Luke Roberts.  “David is a hard worker and a fun kid to be around.  His positive attitude and willingness to do what is asked of him will be missed!”

Avelsgard says his favorite quote is from the late Los Angeles Lakers star, Kobe Bryant, who said, “The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do.”

“My advice to underclassmen would be to enjoy high school and sports while you can, because you never know when it could all be taken away from you.  Also, be the best that you can be and try your best to make your teammates better.”
