Preston Rohloff had a great start to his senior year as he led the Hancock Owls to a perfect 7-0 season on the gridiron.  In addition to football, Preston plays basketball and baseball for the Owls.  He also says that Math is his favorite school subject.

His coaches have high praise for Rohloff with football coach Chad Christianson saying, “Preston is a very special player, but above that he is a great person.  Most people see what he has done on the field in football the past three years as our starting QB and the numbers he has put up, but what most people do not see is what he does off the game field.  He is always the first to offer help to anyone and is very active in helping with our youth football program.  His character that he shows and respect that he shows everyone cannot be measured.  He is always willing to talk to any younger student in the building and genuinely talks with them to make them feel special and important.  Preston will truly be missed by our program.”

Rohloff threw for over 5,000 yards in his four years as the Owls QB, tossing 73 touchdown passes in 33 games.  During his senior season he completed 114 passes in 179 attempts for 2,044 yards, 28 TD’s and only four interceptions.  He had a 63.7% completion percentage and finished with a career completion percentage of 54.8% (339 completions, 619 attempts).

Boys basketball coach Cory Bedel echoes Coach Christianson, “The first thing I would say is he is a kid that a coach wishes he get the opportunity to coach.  He is probably one of the best athletes I have coached as far as being a leader, role model, team captain and his stats sow how good of a player he is on the floor.  Preston is the first guy to let someone know when they did something good and the first to offer encouragement when someone is down or when things aren’t going the best.  The kid is always positive no matter what the situation is and calm, and to me that is a true leader.”

Rohloff was named to the Pheasant Conference all-conference team as a junior, was the Offensive Player of the Year for the Owls and was an honorable mention selection to the West Central Tribune All-Area team.  He has also been selected to be a team captain this season.  As a junior he averaged 10 points per game, 5 rebounds, per game and 3 assists per game.

When he’s not playing with a ball Preston keeps busy with band, choir, BPA and Knowledge Bowl, but it’s clear that his passion is athletics.  “My top sports memory is playing in the Prep Bowl at US Bank Stadium.  There’s no doubt that sports have connected me with friends that I’ll have the rest of my life.”

Preston is undecided on a college at this time.

“Preston has played varsity basketball since he was a freshman and has been a big part of our program, winning 20 games or more each year the last three seasons,” added Coach Bedel.  “He is just the best role model for kids to look up to and a great overall kid.  Just hoping Preston and all the seniors out there get to play this year at some point.”
