The Breckenridge Cowgirls are Heart O’ Lakes Conference champions for the first time in program history.  They finished their season with a 12-1 record after beating Barnesville 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 19-25, 25-18).

Leaders for the Cowboys were Carcie Materi (24 set assists, 11 digs, 1 ace), Abby Johnson (15 kills, 22 digs, 1 ace), Jude Held (12 kills, 3 blocks), Camryn Kaehler (19 kills, 17 digs, 1 ace), Riley Finkral (4 set assists, 3 aces, 30 digs), Sophie Larson (25 set assists, 2 aces, 8 digs) and Victoria Undem (5 kills, 4 digs).

The Trojans were led by Kim Maesse (17 set assists, 10/11 serving, 7 digs), Katie Newell (17 set assists, 12/13 serving, 7 digs), Jordan Tschumperlin (13 kills, 9/9 serving, 2 block assists), Samantha Passa (7 kills, 22/22 serving, 4 aces, 15 digs), Lexi Bolgrean (7 kills, 18/18 serving, 21 digs), Anna Stanford (4 kills, 3 digs, 1 block assist) and Allie Aadland (11/11 serving, 25 digs).

“We ended our rollercoaster of a season on Friday night on our home floor against a tough Cowgirl team,” said Barnesville Head Coach Megan Askegaard. “We fought the good battle tonight, the Cowgirls just play really good defense. When we thought that a ball was down, they would come right back with it. We had a nice balanced attack tonight with all of our hitter in on the action. Kim and Katie did an excellent job mixing things up to keep their defense on their toes. We never gave up even down to the final points where we were still working our way back into the match. Lexi gave us a glimpse of hope, however it is hard when you are sitting on game point. They dug in and gave it their all as they always did.  I am so proud of the seniors and entire team for all they battled through this year. They are a phenomenal group of student athletes who make the best out of this crazy situation we are living through.”
