In the last match of this crazy 2020 Fall sports season, the West Central Area Knights traveled to Benson to take on the Braves in high school volleyball.  It was an exciting night, but the Braves came out on top in three, 25-16, 25-22, and 25-16.

“We knew going into the match that serve receive was going to be crucial as we have faced the Braves before, and knew they were an aggressive serving team,” commented WCA Head Coach Missy Foslien.  “The Braves also had a nearly all senior line up, and that experience against our young team proved to be hard for the Knights to handle.  We didn't have much action on offense, as we struggled to find our setters. The Knights played with heart though, they did not give up, and it was a tough loss regardless.”

Leading for the Knights were Mya Foslien (9/9 serving, 2 aces) and Elizabeth Rustan (8/8 serving, 2 aces).  Morgan Stark added 3 kills on 30/34 attempts and Brooke Anderson, Halle Foslien, and Elizabeth Rustan each added 2 kills, respectively, on the night.  Kaitlyn Hansen and Mya Foslien each had 11 digs.

“As we end this season we are grateful to have had the opportunity to play,” added Coach Foslien. “Had we been able to start our season in August, we probably would've been able to have played all of our regular season and playoff games.  We lucked out with only having to quarantine a couple of our players mid-season, avoiding our whole team being knocked out for two weeks.  Life lessons were learned, we have grown our game and our program.  We knew that this was going to be a building year.  We thank our two seniors, Brooke Anderson and Morgan Stark for their leadership and dedication throughout their years at WCA.  We look forward to working hard in the off season, when we are allowed to practice, hold camps and tournaments, and hit the weight room! The Knights have a bright future ahead of them and they will be exciting to watch in the next few years!”
