The Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels hosted Barnesville in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference volleyball match on Monday night, handing the visiting Trojans a 3-1 loss (18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22).

“Last night we really struggled to catch up to the Rebels,” stated Barnesville Head Coach Megan Askegaard. “They served us tough last night and it caused some disruption in our serve receive passing. We were frustrated with how we were passing and it affected our offense tremendously. We weren’t able to run a balanced attack due to making our setters work to put up an attack where we wanted it. DGF also took our setters out by making them play defense and allowing us to have our right sides take that second ball. We played hard, they were just too much for us tonight. We are in a little rut these last couple games, but we are confident that we will pull out of it in time for our home match on Thursday and Friday with Hawley and Breckenridge.”

The Trojans were led by Samantha Passa (8 kills, 12 digs), Olivia Sorenson (7 kills), Anna Stanford (6 kills), Emily Bredman (6 kills), Katie Newell (16 set assists, 16/18 serving, 2 aces), Lexi Bolgrean (15 digs, 17/18 serving, 2 aces), Kim Maesse (10 set assists, 18/19 serving, 3 aces, 12 digs), Jordan Tschumperlin (5 kills, 4 digs, 14/14 serving, 1 ace) and Allie Aadland 21 digs, 10/10 serving).

“Olivia came in tonight and brought some fire to the court and made some big plays up on the net for us,” said Askegaard. “We really need our middles to be a presence in our offense to keep things moving for us. I felt like the Rebels attacked us constantly tonight and we played a lot more defense than we would have liked. The girls played, hard it just wasn’t enough in a big game like this. We will make some adjustments in our passing and be ready to go on Thursday.”
