The Perham Yellowjackets turned the tables on the Barnesville Trojans Saturday as they avenged a 3-0 loss on Thursday with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-10) win.

“Saturday we traveled to Perham for what was on the schedule as our home match,” said Barnesville Head Coach Megan Askegaard. “In the first set, we came out a little flat making some errors early on in the set. We really had to battle to get points up on our side of the scoreboard. We did not serve receive well today and the Jackets continued to serve at us aggressively and make it difficult for us to get into serve receive and run our offense. We hung with the Jackets until 16-16 when we continued to make too many errors in the first set and the Jackets continued to push on to the end of the set. They did a nice job switching things up on us by tipping and then hitting. We did not move our feet well at all today. The second set really ran away from us quickly when we were down 2-15 early and struggled to recover from it. Mentally we were beat in this set. We committed too many errors on all areas of the court and it was hard for us to dig ourselves out of the large deficit we were in.”

The Trojans were led by Samantha Passa (8 kills, 7 digs, 1 ace), Katie Newell (9 set assists, 10/10 serving, 2 aces, 6 digs), Lexi Bolgrean (10/10 serving, 14 digs), Jordan Tschumperlin (2 kills, 7/7 serving, 5 digs, 2 block assists), Anna Stanford (3 kills, 3 block assists), Allie Aadland (12 digs, 5/5 serving) and Kim Maesse (5 set assists, 5 digs, 5/5 serving).

“The Jackets played very well today,” concluded Coach Askegaard. “We really struggled to get things going on our side. We will learn from our mistakes today and come back stronger and better on Monday against DGF.”
