Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley defeated Brandon-Evansville in 4 sets (25-21, 25-18, 10-25, 25-15) on Friday night.

“Tonight we knew coming in that CGB was going to be tough,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Kelly Olson. “They are tall and athletic and are solid all the way around. Our plan was to try to exploit a few things that we saw in their play.  At times we did a great job of that. I thought we played hard all 4 sets and did have a mindset that would keep us competitive all match.  I think we lost focus too much and dug ourselves too big of a hole those three sets we lost. Sets one and two were good side out volleyball. CGB got on the top of the scoreboard and we couldn’t make enough of a push to close the gap. Set three and four were a different story with each team cruising to a set victory.  It was fun to compete. We will make a few more adjustments and see what happens next week.”

Statistical leaders for the Chargers were Bailey Schaefer (17 kills, 4 digs, 11/11 serving, 2 aces), Mikenna Pattrin (10 kills, 2 blocks), Kylee Dingwall (6 kills, 6 digs, 3 blocks, 7/7 serving), Taylor Yeats (11 digs, 17/18 serving, 1 ace), Korrie Randt (31 set assists, 6 digs, 12/13 serving) and Gretchen Bredberg (18/18 serving, 3 blocks, 3 digs).

The Chargers served 92.4% (73/79) in the match.
