The Hancock Owls defeated the Battle Lake Battlers Thursday night 3-2 (25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 16-25, 15-7) in a non-conference volleyball match in Hancock.

“This was a great battle with both teams playing great defense,” commented Battle Lake Head Coach Jenny Roisum. “The Battlers had 4 players with double digit digs.  This was also a strong serving night for both teams.  The Battlers served 94% as a team (95/101) with 14 aces.  Hancock also had 14 aces and went on a 10-1 serving run in set 2 to win.  Dani Anderson and Kya Ambuehl each served 100% for the Battlers.  This was the Battlers first set 5 of the season.   We started slow in set 5 and there just was not enough time for a comeback.  This match was a great learning experience for the Battlers.”

Grace Van Erp led the Battlers with 16 kills, 10 digs, 14 assists, and 5 blocks.  Kate Christensen had 11 kills, 14 digs, and 17 assists.  Ady Tysdal added 24 digs and 5 kills.  Kya Ambuehl had 18 digs and Hannah Cory added 5 kills.  The Battlers host Pelican Rapids on Monday for Senior and Parents night.
