The unbeaten Hancock Owls built a 34-6 halftime lead on Thursday night in Brandon and went on to hand the Chargers a 56-6 loss.  “Last nights’ game was a very physical game on both sides of the ball by both teams,” stated Hancock Head Coach Chad Christianson

The Owls were able to get into the end zone on our first drive with a 10 yard completion from Preston Rohloff to Matt Thompson but the 2 point attempt failed.  On their second possession the Owls fumbled on their own 25 but were able to force BE into a turnover on downs. On the following drive Rohloff found Brandon Kellenberger for a 20 yard TD.  The two point try again failed and Hancock had a 12-0 lead.  A ten yard TD run by Isaac Nienhaus increased the Hancock lead to 18-0 with 6:15 left in the first half.  Rohloff and Kellenberger connected on a 16 yard pass play with 1:15 on the clock and the two point conversion put the Hancock lead at 26-0.  Kobe Reiland hit Titus Fuller with a 14 yard scoring toss with ten seconds remaining in the half to get Brandon-Evansville on the scoreboard and the lead was 26-6 for the Owls. Hancock got the ball back with 3 secondson the clock and went 55 yards on a completion from Rohloff to Nienhaus.  The two-point run by Nienhaus was good to put the Owls up 34-6 at the half.

Nienhaus scored on a two yard TD run to start the second half and Rohloff scored the two-point conversion for a 42-6 Hancock lead with nine minutes left in the third quarter.  With just two minutes on the third quarter clock, the Owls scored on a 2-yard TD run, upping their lead to 48-6.  The final score of the game was on a 26 yard run.  It was followed by a successful two-point conversion run, putting a final of 56-6 on the scoreboard.

“We again found success in our passing game, spreading the ball around to several different receivers,” noted Coach Christianson.  “Our defense also played extremely well.  Brandon- Evansville is a very physical team with backs that run the hard and get downhill in a hurry. Defensively our guys flew around all night and once again Bryce Hacker did a great job in the middle of the defensive line causing problems.  We now look toward playoffs where we will wait to play the winner of Ortonville versus CGB.”

Hancock had 520 yards of total offense, 371 through the air and 149 on the ground.  Rohloff was 16-for-23 throwing the football for 337 yards and 5 TD’s.  Nienhaus had 67 yards rushing on 10 attempts and 5 receptions for 117 yards.  Leading receiver was Kellenberger with 7 catches for 144 yards.

For Brandon-Evansville, Reiland was 4-for-14 for 38 yards.  Cade Carlson ran for 90 yards on 21 carries.  Fuller was the top receiver with 2 receptions for 22 yards.

"We knew going into this one that we had to play a perfect game to hang in there against a very good Hancock team,” stated Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Tim Pattrin.  “They played very well and we struggled to contain them.  We also found out this morning that we will have to stop our team from playing do to COVID so this was a tough way to end the year.  To our seniors; Kyle, Kobe, Kaleb, Xavier, Cade, Mike, Nathan, and Eric, thank you for your years in our program.  I hope you have become a better person because of your B-E Football experience and good luck in all that you do in the future."
