Vikings Post 21-0 Shutout Victory over Hornets

Pelican Rapids struck quickly on Wednesday night, scoring 14 first quarter points and going on to post a 21-0 win over the Frazee Hornets.

McHale Korf scored on a two-yard run with 8:44 left in the opening quarter and Alex Lynnes added the extra-point kick to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead.  A 2-yard TD run by Johnny Ziebell and a second Lynnes PAT kick, made it 14-0 with 4:21 left in the first quarter.  That score stood up until the fourth quarter when the Vikings added an insurance score on a 7 yard run by Carter Johnson with 1:07 on the clock.  Lynnes made it 3-for-3 on PAT kicks and the Vikings had their 21-0 victory.

Ziebell led Pelican Rapids with 50 rushing yards on 11 carries.  Jayden Rutherford added 36 yards on 9 rushing attempts and Korf had 35 rushing yards on 16 carries, while completing 2-of-9 passes for 31 yards.  Carson McNeal had one reception for 22 yards and Ziebell had the other catch for 9 yards.  Ziebell had 7 solo tackles and 3 assisted tackles to lead the defensive effort.  Hunter Williams had a pair of sacks and the Vikings had 3 interceptions on the night.

For Frazee, Brock Barlund caught two passes for 33 yards and Broden Fleisher had 69 rushing yards on 15 carries.  Fleisher was 2-for-12 throwing the football for 33 yards.  Barlund also had an interception for the Hornets.
