The Perham Yellowjackets jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead and took a 34-0 halftime lead on the way to a 34-8 win over Fergus Falls on Wednesday night at Ted Meinhover Field in Perham.

Colton Hackel scored his first of three touchdowns on the night just 1:26 into the opening quarter when he carried the ball over the goal line from 2 yards out to cap a 6 play, 70 yard drive and give the home team a 6-0 advantage.  A 3-yard run by Chas Melvin with only 5 seconds left in the quarter, followed by a two-point conversion run by Melvin increased the Yellojwackets lead to 14-0.

Hackel’s second TD run, this one from 9 yards, came at the end of a 9 play, 65 yard drive and was followed by a Hackel to Gareth Covington two-point conversion pass, giving Perham a 22-0 lead with 7:01 remaining in the half.  Hackel added a 4 yard TD run with 4:10 left, upping the Perham lead to 28-0.  The final Perham touchdown came on a 2 yard run by Melvin with 49 second remaining in the half, giving the Yellowjackets a 34-0 lead at the break.

Fergus Falls got their lone score as time expired in the third quarter.  Logan Schake ran the ball in from 5 yards out.  Andrew Johnson then hit Austin Rinke for the two-point conversion.
