Brandon-Evansville served 93.2% on the Thursday night as they recorded a 3-0 (25-13. 25-21, 25-17) Little Eight Conference win over the Ashby Arrows.

“Against Ashby we figured it would come down to unforced errors if we were to get out of the night with a win,” commented B-E Head Coach Kelly Olson.  “I heard they were a scrappy team who could dig.  We wanted to start fast and go from there.  It seems if we start fast we end up playing with a little more focus.  Up 9-0 in the first set we seemed to cruise to the win.  Taylor Yeats started us off really well from the serving line in set one.  She set the pace that set.  Set two Ashby seemed to dig in a little more and had some great defensive plays.  We did a nice job of siding out for most of the set, but we bogged down after an injury to a player.  Skylar Bitzan, seeing her first varsity action as a freshman, stepped in and not only served very well, but had a couple of digs in a six point run to really spark us to that second set win.  Moving into the third set we were not super sharp.  I think with Gretchen Bredberg stepping in the middle we had different people playing different positions, and communication broke down a little.  We did finally find our rhythm out there and with some timely kills and tough serves, got out with the win.  We are looking forward to travelling to Battle Lake early next week for our final Little 8 Conference match.”

The Chargers were led by Yeats (16/17 serving, 1 ace, 4 kills, 3 digs), Bredberg (11/11 serving, 1 ace, 1 block), Bitzan (8/8 serving), Korrie Randt (10/11 serving, 34 set assists, 6 digs), Mikenna Pattrin (8/9 serving, 9 kills) and Kylie Dingwall (7/7 serving, 1 ace, 6 kills, 5 digs, 1 block), Bailey Schaefer (18 kills, 6 digs) and Grace Otto (12 digs).

“Mentally, tonight felt like a win,” stated Ashby Head Coach Hayley Stevens. “The girls pushed through some tough moments, and really looked to each other. The communication was there and we never got down. B-E has a big attack both front and back row and they can at us from every angle. We struggled to slow the hits down which made it difficult to dig the deep corners. We adjusted and were able to pick up a few which I was proud of the girls' effort to get in front of the ball and make those adjustments. We meet up with Parkers Prairie Monday!”

Leaders for the Arrows were Anissa Heinrich (9/9 serving, 3 kills, 4 digs), Catherine Koefod (8/9 serving, 2 aces, 12 set assists, 3 digs), Celi Nelson (7/8 serving, 9 kills, 2 blocks, 7 digs), Haleigh Brendmoen (12/14 serving, 5 aces, 4 kills, 10 digs), Madeline Thompson (7/7 serving, 1 ace, 4 set assists) and Ryleigh Brendmoen (4/4 serving, 1 ace, 9 kills, 13 digs).
