The Henning Hornets were 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-11) winners over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross in a high school volleyball match in Henning on Monday night. The two teams got together at the last minute when their scheduled opponents both had to postpone due to COVID-19 restrictions that were put in place.
Henning served 97% on the night, with 9 ace serves. Ally Hart and Megan Rinicker led the way with three aces apiece. The Hornets hit .239 as a team with a total of 38 kills, led by Hart with 11. Rinicker and Grace Hammer added eight kills each, Ellie Dague had 6 and Emma Severson 3. Lyvia Misegades dished out 32 assists. Defensively, Faith Fisher recorded 24 digs and Hart picked up 10.
Henning will take an 8-0 record into their next match on Thursday at home against Menahga. The Hornets haven’t lost a set in any match this year.
Leaders for the Warriors were Brylie Schultz (7 kills), Ellissa Rinke (5 kills, 9 digs, 8/8 serving), Emily Berger (8/8 serving, 1 ace, 6 digs, 8 set assists), Izzy Schmidt (7/7 serving, 2 kills), Amanda Lanter (6 set assists, 5 digs) and Kyah Thomas (9/10 serving, 1 ace, 4 kills, 6 digs).
The Warriors will host Ortonville on Thursday night.
