The Barnesville Trojans held West Central Area/Ashby to 138 yards of total offense and just five first downs as they recorded a 41-0 win over the Knights in Barrett on Friday night.

“Was great having the entire team back finally, first game all year we had most of our team on the sideline,” commented Barnesville Head Coach Bryan Strand.  “We were short one player as they had a day left on being quarantined and another student at home suffering from mono.  Was crazy week as players came back in shifts, 4 Monday, 4 Tuesday, about 23 on Wednesday and then the final 4 or so on Thursday. We did morning and after school practices on Wednesday and Thursday as well as a night zoom to get everyone prepared for WCA.  I felt we played very aggressively and physical on both sides of the ball.  We made mistakes but nothing that hurt us bad.  We were still without Coach Phil Trowbridge but Nate Strand along with Adam Tonsfeldt called a great game.  Adam had a fantastic game running the ball and leading the charge.  As you can see from the stats many ball carriers all getting around 5.5-7 yards per carry, a good average, and then Adam was about 16.5!”

Tonsfeldt ran for 165 yards on 10 carries and got in the end zone twice.  Noah Krause had 66 yards on 12 attempts, Aaron Schiefert ran for 46 yards on 10 carries and scored two TDs, and Cameron Heng (7 carries, 38 yards) and Wyatt Roller (6 carries, 21 yards) each scored a touchdown for the Trojans.  Barnesville finished with 345 yards on the ground

Jonny Robideau (4 solo tackles, 8 assisted tackles, 2 sacks) really had a great game defensively as did Aaron Schiefert (3 solo tackles, 6 assisted tackles), Joey Mark (4 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles, 1 sack) and Kaden Zenzen (5 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles, 1 sack).  I feel we are playing great right now and the boys continue to work their tails off.  Been a great year so far, hope the weather gets a little nicer and we can finish this thing off right.”

Krause and Tonsfeldt each recovered a fumble and Braden Bredman forced a fumble. Brady Kroll also had a sack.

We have been looking forward to this week coming up for a long time, we knew it would probably come down to us and Breck for the district title and here we are,” said Coach Strand. “They are 4-0 as are we.  They have an outstanding ball club, very fast and very physical we will need to be at the top of our game on Friday.  They are very senior dominated and this is a great class for them, will be a great test for us heading into the section tourney here in the next couple weeks.”

WCA/Ashby (3-2) will play at Pillager Friday night at six o'clock.

No stats were reported for the Knights.
