Fergus Falls led 7-6 at halftime, however, the Otters were shutout in the second half as Pequot Lakes recorded an 18-7 win on Friday night.

The Otters got on the board in the first quarter when a 24 yard pass from Andrew Johnson to Abel Aho brought the ball down to the 2-yard line and Kaden Hartwell finished the drive with a TD run.  Matthew Niblock’s extra point kick established a 7-0 lead for the Otters.

An interception by Eric Larson of the Patriots set them up at the Otter 6-yard line in the second quarter, leading to a 3 yard TD pass from Bode Magnuson to Hunter Nybakken, trimming the Fergus Falls lead to 7-6 at the half.

Magnuson and Ryan Monahan hooked up on a pair of second half touchdown passes, the first one covering 31 yards in the third quarter, and the second one from 18 yards out in the fourth quarter.

Magnuson ran for 114 yards on 18 carries to lead Pequot Lakes.  He also completed 16-of-26 passes for 237 yards with 3 TD passes and 2 interceptions.  The leading receiver for the Patriots was Monahan with 7 catches on 103 yards.

Sam Sorum and Cole Zierden had the interceptions for the Otters, while Austin Rinke recovered a fumble and Landon Thacker recorded a sack. Offensive leaders for the Otters were Andrew Johnson (8-of-14 passing, 121 yards), Luke Newman (4 catches, 67 yards), Abel Ahol (4 catches, 54 yards, 4 carries, 21 yards) and Cole Zierden (7 carries, 27 yards).

“We’re not getting the results we want, but our kids continue to compete,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Steve Olson.  “Our defense keeps playing scrappy, but offensively when we have an opportunity we aren’t putting points on the board.”

Fergus Falls will host Park Rapids on Friday, November 6 at 6:00pm.
