Hillcrest defeated Rothsay 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-21) in a Little Eight Conference volleyball match on Thursday night in Rothsay.

“Tonight there was a strong, consistent start to the match for us,” stated Hillcrest Head Coach Debi Foss. “Our girls played as a team and worked very well with each other. Our seniors, Audra Ewan and Mackenzie Foss, provided some strong leadership on the court. I've been waiting for things to just "come together" and they finally did. I am so proud of our girls."

Leaders for the Comets were Ewan (20/21 serving, 4 aces, 9 set assists, 3 digs), Maddie Ballweg (6/7 serving, 8 set assists, 11 digs), Emily Adams (8 kills, 9 service points), Natalie Zwiers (6 kills, 1 block kill), Madi Foss (12/12 serving, 10 digs, 1 block kill) and Mack Foss (5 kills, 18 digs).

Hillcrest will host Parkers Prairie in another conference match on Monday.

“This was not our best night,” commented Rothsay Head Coach John Reber. “We were out of sync and slow to get to the ball most of the game. Hillcrest built big leads to start each set, and we spent too much time trying to climb our way out. We were able to pick it up a bit in the third set, with Grace Lider (8 kills) rallying the team for a late charge. Hillcrest played as one and we played as six for most of the match, and in volleyball one beats six every time.”
