The Vikings had two 100 yard rushers as Jayden Rutherford finished with 118 yards on just 7 carries, and Timmy Guler had 114 yards on 8 carries, in just one quarter at quarterback.  Johnny Ziebell added 68 yards on 8 attempts, Logan Fahje ran for 67 yards on 9 carries and Carter Johnson had 50 yards on just 3 touches.  The Vikings averaged over 10 yards per carry on the night.  Fahje completed both of his pass attempts for 35 yards, including a 30 yard TD pass to Hunter Williams

Six different Vikings got into the end zone, starting on their first drive of the night when they went 61 yards in nine plays and Fahje scored on a 4-yard run.  Ziebell scored the two-point conversion and Pelican Rapids led 8-0.

Wadena-Deer Creek answered with a solid 14-play, 73 yard scoring drive, capped by a 19 yard scoring toss from Payton Rondestvedt to Josh Dykhoff, followed by a two-point conversion pass from Rondestvedt to Aiden Larson, tying the game at 8-8 just 56 seconds into the second quarter.  Rutherford broke loose for a 65-yard TD run on the first play of the Vikings next possession and Ziebell crashed in for the two-point conversion, lifting Pelican Rapids to a 16-8 advantage with 10:43 remaining in the first half.  A Fahje interception gave the Vikings the ball at their own 45 yard line and five plays later he hooked up with Williams on the 30 yard TD pass.  Ziebell again scored the two-point conversion, giving Pelican Rapids a 24-8 lead with 7:25 left in the half.  The Wolverines responded with a 9-play, 53 yard scoring drive which ended when Rondestvedt carried the ball over the goal line from 2 yards out, trimming the Vikings lead to 24-14 with 2:41 on the clock in the second quarter.  Pelican Rapids then traveled 69 yards in 8 plays with Fahje scoring on a one yard run and the Vikings again converting their two-point try with just 14 seconds left in the half, taking a 32-14 lead into the locker room.

On the opening possession of the second half the Vikings went 75 yards in 7 plays and Justin Verdorn scored on a 2 yard run, increasing their lead to 38-14.

The fourth quarter saw Pelican Rapids score on an 18 yard run by Carter Johnson, followed by a two-point conversion pass from Guler to Brayden Ecker, giving the Vikings a lead of 46-14.  Rondestvedt outran the Pelican Rapids defense for a 48-yard touchdown with 9:53 remaining to cut the lead to 46-20, however, with 8:22 on the clock Tristan Landberg became the sixth Viking player to score on the night when he plunged in from the one yard line.  Guler’s two-point conversion run put the final score at 54-20.
