In a makeup volleyball game on Saturday night the Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Wolverines won three straight sets from the Hillcrest Comets, posting wins of 25-18, 25-7 and 25-13.

“We were able to play with CGB during most of the first set,” commented Hillcrest Head Coach Debi Foss. “Then in the second and third sets, their offense took off and we just couldn't get a block on their strong hitters when we needed one. Our serving was much better than Friday night but we still need to get more serving opportunities and have an even higher serving percentage. Every game is a learning curve for our team, especially against this week's tough competition. If we can build on our play in the first set and maintain consistency, we should start meeting more of our goals. I am proud of our girls for their effort, for keeping positive attitudes, and for continuing to grow as a team.”

Leaders for the Comets were Audra Ewan (8 set assists, 2 ace serves, 4 digs), Madison Ballweg (5 set assists, 3 digs, 1 kill), Natalie Zwiers (1 kill, 1 block kill), Anna Brumfield (1 kill, 4 blocks, 1 block assist), Abby Heikes (2 kills, 4 digs), Madi Foss (1 ace serve, 2 kills, 6 digs), Emily Adams (3 kills, 1 dig), Hope Adams (3 kills) and Mack Foss (1 kill, 10 digs).

Hillcrest will host Battle Lake on Tuesday and will travel to Rothsay on Thursday.
