Underwood swept Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Saturday in a high school volleyball match, winning 25-13, 25-22, 25-12.

“Our team has been struggling to start strong in each game,” commented Underwood Head Coach Breck Grove.  “Tonight we set a goal of starting stronger in each set than we have been in previous games.  The girls came out with good energy and were ready to play quality volleyball.  It was fun to see them play together and without a lot of errors.  Our attack was balanced and our defense came together really nicely against a strong attack for a very fun team victory.”

Leaders for the Rockets were Brooke Hovland (14 digs, 9 kills, 11/11 serving), Kallyn Grove (11/11 serving, 15 set assists), Reese Richards (15/15 serving, 3 aces, 16 set assists), Moraes Bugbee (9 kills, 5/5 serving, 1 ace), Josey Bugbee (7 kills), Brianna Evavold (14/14 serving, 2 aces, 9 digs) and Amber Frigaard (16/16 serving, 4 aces, 4 digs).

Underwood will play at Rothsay on Tuesday.

Serving leaders for the Warriors were Ellissa Rinke (16/16, 2 aces), Kyah Thomas (7/7, 1 ace), Olivia Hasbargen (7/78), Emily Berger (7/8, 1 ace) and Izzy Schmidt (6/6, 1 ace).  Rinke led the attack with 7 kills, Schmidt had 5 and Brylie Schultz added 4 kills and 2 block assists.  Amanda Lanter had 6 set assists and Emily Berger contributed 4.  Rinke had a team high 7 digs and Hasbargen chipped in with 6.
