The only touchdown of the night came with 1:30 left in the first half as New York Mills quarterback Daunte Leiran ran the ball in from the 5 yard line.  The Eagles made that score standup for a 6-0 win over the Underwood Rockets in a game played at the Otter Stadium Field in Fergus Falls.

The Eagles held the Rockets to 56 total yards, while gaining 172 themselves, all on the ground.  The two teams were a combined 0-for-5 throwing the football and each team committed two turnovers on the night.

Leiran led the Eagles with 138 rushing yards on 31 carries.  The top rusher for Underwood was Read Leabo with 35 yards on 18 attempts.  Slade Moore led the defense with 12 solo tackles and 8 assisted tackles.  Logan Schleske had 4 solo tackles and assisted on 3 others.  Leabo had an interception for the Rockets.

“We played hard and with a lot of heart, just couldn’t get it going offensively,” said Underwood Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson.  “Our defense was stellar.”

Underwood will play at Ada-Borup next Friday night.
