Brandon-Evansville got off to a fast start on Wednesday as they scored 14 first quarter points on the way to a 22-0 win over Bertha-Hewitt.

The Chargers scored with 6:45 left in the first quarter on a 2-yard run by Cade Carlson.  Carlson also ran the ball in for the two-point conversion, staking B-E to an early 8-0 lead.  With three minutes left in the opening quarter Tyler Bitzan broke free for a 21-yard TD run, giving the Chargers a 14-0 lead.  That’s the way the half ended and the same score remained on the board heading into the fourth quarter.  Bitzan scored his second touchdown of the night with 9:45 left in the game on a 12-yard run and Carlson was successful on the 2-point conversion run to put the final score at 22-0.

"Two very physical teams came to play tonight,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Tim Pattrin.  “We were able to get back to basics, do our jobs, and take care of the football.  This was a great team win.”

Brandon-Evansville compiled 306 yards of offense, 270 of which came on the ground.  Bertha-Hewitt ran for 181 yards and had 185 total yards on the night.  The Bears struggled to hold onto the football as they lost five fumbles in the game and also threw an interception.  B-E had only one turnover in the game.

Carlson was the leading rusher with 142 yards on 25 carries, while Bitzan ran for 136 yards on 11 attempts.  Kobe Reiland was 1-for-5 passing with Kyle Schaffran hauling in the only completion which was good for 36 yards.  John Roers led the defense with 11 tackles (5 solo, 12 assisted) and Carlson added 10.5 tackles (4 solo, 13 assisted).  Schaffran had the interception.

Now we can rest a few days and get ready for a long trip north to play a tough North Central team," added Pattrin.
