The Pelican Rapids volleyball team hosted their first home game against the Perham Yellowjackets on Tuesday night.  The Vikings had just come off a tough loss against Barnesville last week but fought super hard and competed well before losing in 3 sets, 25-14, 25-9, 25-17.

“Tonight we struggled a bit finding our offensive rhythm,” explained Pelican Rapids Head Coach Heidi Isaman.  “Perham’s aggressive serving put us out of system a lot in the first 2 sets and we found ourselves playing way more defense than offense.  Set 3 we made some serve receive adjustments and the Vikings started to finally get a little bit of offense going.  Tori Stephenson got aggressive using the Yellowjacket blockers to her advantage to give us the confidence to start swinging away.  Senior setter Greta Tollefson was smart with the ball all night to find a few open spots to score or us while setter Sophia Paulson did a good job to give us as many offensive opportunities as possible for as much as we were out of system.  Senior Allie Haiby had some big digs for us to keep us alive but the aggressive serving and transition of the Yellowjackets was just too much for us tonight.”

No Perham stats or information was received.

The Vikings will have a home match against the Hawley Nuggets on Thursday. This will be a 2:30pm game due to MEA break.
