West Central Area survived a 5-set match with Ashby on Monday night as the Knights won the first two sets, 25-17, 27-25, lost the next two sets 28-26, 25-20 and pulled out the decisive fifth set, 15-12.

Leaders for the lady Knights were Morgan Stark (19 kills), Brooke Anderson (8 kills, 5 aces), Elizabeth Rustan (6 kills, 2 blocks), Mya Foslien (5 aces, 27 digs), Macy Grosz (36 set assists) and Kaitlyn Hansen (21 digs).

“West Central Area is scrappy and rarely let the ball drop,” said Ashby Head Coach Hayley Stevens.  “They found the holes on the court and capitalized on our hesitation to get the ball at times. Although we served 92% we made crucial mistakes on the serving line when they really mattered.  We pushed through all five and our energy level wasn’t lost even after a long night of playing.  It took us too long to warm up and come Wednesday against Underwood our hope is that we show up ready to play set one.”

Ashby was led by Ryleigh Brendmoen (8 kills, 40 digs, 15/18 serving), Anissa Heinrich (7 kills, 13 digs, 4/4 serving, 1 block), Cailey Schlosser (5 kills, 34 digs, 12/13 serving), Celi Nelson (5 kills, 28 digs, 12/14 serving, 3 blocks), Tarryn Hill (43 digs, 12 assists, 26/26 serving), Catherine Koefod (36 digs, 7 assists, 21/21 serving) and Madeline Thompson (10/12 serving).
