Bemidji made a first half goal stand up on Monday night as the third seeded Lumberjacks eliminated the sixth seeded Fergus Falls Otters in the Section 8A Boys’ Soccer playoffs.  The Otters ended their season with a record of 0-11 and Bemidji will now travel to East Grand Forks to play the number two seeded Greenwave in the quarterfinal round of the Section Tournament.

Wylee Gladen floated a shot just over the outstretched hand of goalkeeper Ian Stumbo midway through the first half.  He was assisted by Marlondo Smith.

Stumbo came up big time after time in goal, withstanding a consistent offensive attack, especially in the first half.  Bemidji had sixteen corner kick opportunities but never really threatened to score off any of them.  Stumbo also had tremendous defensive help from Jack Uhrich, Ian Richards, Joey Johnson and Sam Sorum.

Alexandria defeated Detroit Lakes 4-0 and Pelican Rapids knocked Hillcrest out of the playoffs with a 10-1 win.  The Vikings will host the Cardinals on Thursday afternoon in a quarterfinal matchup.
