The Battle Lake volleyball team defeated West Central Area in their opening match of the 2020 season, (25-17, 25-21, 25-18). The Battlers started the night with an ace from Grace Van Erp and finished the night with a Van Erp ace. The Battlers ended with 17 aces on the night. Ady Tysdal finished with 9 aces, 6 came in the opening run of the third set.
“The Battlers played with energy tonight,” said Head Coach Jennifer Roisum. “Our goal was to improve throughout the night and maintain our communication. The girls did just that and were able to come away with a win.”
Van Erp finished the night with 12 kills, 10 assists, 4 blocks, and 4 aces. Tysdal was 16/19 serving with 9 aces and 6 kills. Kate Christensen dished out 17 assists and added 5 kills. Leah Koltes and Kya Ambuehl each had 7 digs. While Dani Anderson added 4 kills, 3 blocks, and 3 aces.
Kill leaders for the lady Knights were Morgan Stark (10), Elizabeth Rustan (7) and Mya Foslien (5). Macy Grosz distributed 19 set assists and Kaitlyn Hansen had a team high 9 digs. Halle Foslien recorded a block and three players, Maddie Nadgwick, Kaitlyn Hansen and Elizabeth Rustan had service aces.
The Battlers head to Underwood on Monday for their next match, while the Knights will host Ashby.
