The West Central Area Boys’ Cross Country team remains at the top of the Minnesota State Cross Country Coaches’ Association Class A Rankings this week, with Staples-Motley, Lac Qui Parle Valley, Perham and Lake City rounding out the top five. Staples-Motley is first on the girls’ side, followed by Murray County Central, Luverne, Perham and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted. Pequot Lakes is sixth and Hawley comes in twelfth.
Individually, Emmett Anderson of Staples-Motley is the top boys’ runner in Class A, while Perham’s Jacob McCleary is fifth. Natasha Sortland of ZM/KW is the top girls’ runner, with Kyanna Burton of Staples-Motley ranked eighth, Calia Chaney of Pequot Lakes ninth and Kira Sweeney of Wadena-Deer Creek eleventh.
