The Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Boys Soccer team was defeated by the Central MN Christian Blue Jays on Saturday in Prinsburg by the score of 4-2.  CMC scored two goals early, on Comet defensive miscues.  Goals came at just seven and nine minutes into the contest, putting the Comets down two goals at the half with no additional scoring.

At 56 minutes into the Contest, Freshman Matthew Knutson, got a hold of a loose ball near midfield and launched a perfect shot to the right top corner of the Blue Jay net from 45 yards out.  At 72 minutes, Senior Captain Zeke Ihrke, picked up a loose ball at the top of the eighteen, shot the ball, which deflected off a Blue Jay Defender into the net, tying the score with eight minutes remaining.  CMC battled back in the final minutes with goals at 75 and 79 minutes to cap off all scoring the Comets down two goals at the end of regulation.

“After a timid showing in the first half, I was satisfied with our performance in the second half, hustling back and tying the score,” stated Hillcrest Head Coach Rod Jensen.  “Our midfielders, Cayden Fischer, Juin Moon, Abram Ness, and Gabe Swedenburg, stepped up and played a better half of soccer.  The Blue Jays size and speed wore us down late in the game.”

Senior Comet Goal Keeper, Doulton Royce, ended the game with 12 saves.

The Comets now 0-4, face off with a talented Pelican Rapids team on Tuesday, at their first home appearance of the season.

In other Saturday action, the Alexandria boys' soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss to Willmar.  The Cardinals (0-2-3) will travel to Moorhead for a noon game on Saturday, September 26.
