The Ortonville boys’ finished first and the Border West girls’ were meet champions at the Ortonville Cross Country Invitational on Thursday.  The Trojans score of 22 put them ahead of the Border West guys who finished with 50 points.  The Buccaneer girls’ scored 47 points to top Lakeview (67).

Joe Arens almost had a first place and passed Nathan Neu of Ortonville with about 600 meters left, but Neu caught him,” reported Border West Head Coach Brittany Erickson.  “Julia Schmidt finished 2nd in the race, but placed 3rd overall.  We ran against Ortonville and it was difficult because there weren't a lot of runners to chase, so we need to get in the mindset that it's not always about chasing people, but going for time when you are out there by yourself. We had some nice pack running done by our boys and girls with some greatly improved times.”

Brooklyn Conrad of Ortonville won the individual girls’ title.  Elly Anderson, the only other Trojan runner, finished in fifth place.
