The Fergus Falls girls’ soccer team settled for a 1-1 road tie with St. Cloud Tech on Thursday night.  The game was scoreless at halftime.

“Tech plays a great controlled game,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “They move off the ball very well and they have a ton of speed throughout their entire team.  Our defense played a very strong game.  Talia Nelson played a very nice game at Sweeper and Jenna Larson was very strong on the left side, keeping the attacker to the outside so Svea Smestad could see the shots and make solid saves.  Svea played another great game in goal.”

Tech scored the first goal as they penetrated the interior and hit a perfect shot into the corner.  “Earlier in the year I think we would have dropped our heads, but not tonight,” said Jurgens.  “We stuck with them and with fifteen minutes left in the game Ellie Andersen played a perfect corner into the box.  Hope Goepferd kept it alive and Maddie Boyd placed it inside the left post.”

“We were very impressed with the minutes our subs played tonight,” added Coach Jurgens.

Tech won the JV game 2-0, scoring both of their goals in the first half.

Fergus Falls will host Willmar at 7:00pm Tuesday at the Otter Stadium Field.

The 7th and 8th graders posted a 4-1 win over Hillcrest.  Beatrice Schierer scored the first goal of the season early in the first half and then Emma Dirkman followed up with a hat trick.  "Hillcrest had a few opportunities, including a PK, but Ava Thompson had an awesome performance in goal," stated Coach Amber Hovland.
