Playing with a new look starting line-up, the Pelican Rapids Boys' soccer team took down the Crookston Pirates 10-0 at home Tuesday night pushing their record to 4-1.  Due to injuries in the back of the defense, players were moved to new spots, which led to other players being moved and the trickle-down effect continued until the Starting XI of the Vikings looked significantly different from just three days prior against East Grand Forks.

The Vikings took a little while to find their groove but fourteen minutes in, Freshman Abdi Isse headed a ball just across the line when Sebastian Centeno's header came his way.  Less than three minutes later, Khadar Ibrahim scored after receiving a nice pass from Jesus Moreno.  Moreno then found the net himself as Abdi Isse found him for one of Isse's three assists in the match.

With just under 10 minutes to go, Ibrahim got his second goal off a pass from Mohamed Ahmed.  Ahmed himself then scored off a pass from Isse and the final goal of the first half was credited to Hamsa Ishowa as the nearest player although it was an own goal for Crookston.  The halftime whistle blew, and the score was 6-0.

The Vikings continued their offensive assault when Ibrahim found the net to complete his hat-trick scoring again off a pass from Isse.  Three minutes later, Moreno again found the net with Daniel Urbano picking up his first assist of the night.

With seven minutes to play, Abraham Franco belted a loose ball into the back of the net to push the score out to 9-0 and Abdi Isse finally got a goal of his own with two minutes to play off a pass from Daniel Urbano.

"We knew a lot of guys were going to have to adapt to new roles and positions on the team, and it took a little while to get our rhythm but we could see the boys' confidence grow as the game progressed," said Head Coach John Peter afterwards.

The Vikings now have some time to repair their injuries and find their sync with their new positions before the big West Otter Tail Derby with Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.  The Vikings play the Comets in Fergus Falls next Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
