The Fergus Falls girls' soccer team found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime Tuesday night, however, the Otters rallied behind a pair of second half goals from Piper Andrews to record a 2-1 win over St. Cloud Apollo at the Otter Stadium Field.  The win was the third in a row for Fergus Falls.

"We had a quick start to the game with numerous chances in the first half, including five beautiful corner kicks from Ellie Andersen, but we found ourselves down 1-0 at halftime," stated Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  "Apollo played a very nice game, playing possession based soccer and executing give-and-go passing through the midfield."

The second half found Apollo continuing to execute passing and frustrating the Otters until the 20 minute mark when Megan Tosset made the play of the game off a long ball by the Otter defense.  She chased down the loose ball up the right sidelines and beat the Apollo defender.  She passed the ball to a crashing Piper Andrews who tied the game 1-1.  With approximately eight minutes left in the game, Andrews received another through ball and used her speed to break away from the defense for the game winner.  Hope Goepferd gathered the ball at midfield and placed it perfectly through the defense to set up the game winner by Andrews.

Svea Smestad had a very strong game in goal to help secure the win.

"We missed Anna Anderson tonight," said Jurgens.  "She does so many things that go unnoticed by many but are essential to our success.  Tonight wasn't the prettiest game we have played this year, but the girls proved to themselves they could grind out a big victory in winning for a third straight time in the CLC.  I'm proud of the effort and compete that was in the girls tonight."

The Otter JV team lost 3-2 with goals scored by Brynn Walter and Grace Polejewski.

The Otters travel to St. Cloud Tech on Thursday for their next game.
