The Ottertail Central Bulldogs hosted Pelican Rapids and Lake Park Audubon for a Cross Country triangular in Battle Lake on Thursday. The Bulldogs ended up winning five of the six races held.

“Today it was great to see the athletes step up and put on a show for our home crowd as we had 41 athletes set a new season best time,” said head coach Brady Speicher. “We once again got off to a great start due to our junior high kids and the momentum lasted throughout the evening.”

The junior high boys’ race had the closest individual finish with Dawson Bushman winning by a second with a time of 13:36 over Ryan Francis of LPA. The Bulldogs then put four more runners in the top ten to secure a 26-29 win over LPA with Aiden Heggem 14:19, Bradyn Roisum 14:54, Braxtyn Cameron 14:55, and Gabe Lindstrom 15:26.

Kallyn Grove led the way for the junior high lady Bulldogs with a second place finish of 15:04. Her efforts along with Nora Froslee 15:55.27, Gracyn Kugler 16:15.00, Clara Mark 16:45.09 Emmalyn Bergstom 16:50.59 and Sophie Akerman 16:55.00 taking the 4th through 8th positions won the team title by 12 points over LPA.

In the JV races the men beat Pelican Rapids 37-41 as Kale Misegades of OTC took the individual title in 19:44. “The JV race was an exciting one to watch,” Speicher said. “We had three 7th graders, Kale, Peter and Talyn, out there trying their first 5k out and they performed amazingly.” The Bulldogs claimed the girls JV title with Reece Richards and Ky Shebeck leading the way with a 2-3 finish in 23:27 and 23:31.

History was made on the girls’ varsity team as Faith Fisher and Ady Tysdal ran into the top ten all-time list. Their times of 21:43 and 21:52 put them 7th and 10th on that list. Fisher and Tysdal were joined by Jorja Gabrielson, 21:55, and Grace VanErp, 22:04, in the top ten of the race to end up taking second as a team as LPA took first with 24 points.

The varsity boys’ closed out the night with the Bulldogs putting four in the top ten to secure the win with 36 points over Pelican Rapids with 42. Isaac Scherfenber was the top OTC boy in 3rd (18:11), Blake Alonzo in 4th (18:33.36), Nick Carter in 5th (18:42) and Joseph Froslee in tenth (19:47).
