Otter Girls Shut Down Rocori

The Fergus Falls girls’ soccer team posted their second consecutive shutout win as they defeated the Rocori Spartans by the score of 5-0 on Thursday night at the Otter Stadium Field.

Svea Smestad was once again in goal.  Talia Nelson played a very strong game at sweeper for the Otters.  Marilyn Karsnia scorer in her first varsity game.

Piper Andrews got her first two goals of the year to get the Otters on the board, followed by Maddie Hulter.  Karsnia and Vanessa Vaughn finished the scoring.  Lexi Metcalf assisted on Vaughn’s goal and Haley Kugler assisted on Karsnia’s tally.  Ellie Andersen had two assists.

“Everyone got to play in the last two games which is always fun,” said Head Coach Ben Jurgens of the Otters.  “We needed these two wins and now we move on to play a very good Willmar team in what should be a great game.”

The JV team won 8-0.  “Coach Delaney has her girls playing very well,” noted Jurgens.  “With Kelsi Davis Beck getting the shutout on Tuesday and Brynn Walter recording the shutout tonight.” 

Goals were scored by Kiara Grady (2), Lexi Metcalf, Madi Budke and Chloe Schake (3).  Karley Braeger also scored her first high school goal in the JV game.
