The Fergus Falls boys’ soccer team was held to only four shots on goal Thursday night as the Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres recorded a 3-0 Central Lakes Conference win at the Otter Stadium Field.

Carter Sharp scored the first goal of the game when he received a pass from Ernest David and blasted it into the net with 11:46 left in the first half.  Just a little over a minute later John Engelkes jumped on a loose ball in front of the net and buried it for a 2-0 lead.  A penalty kick converted by Engelkes midway through the second half completed the scoring.

Sartell-St. Stephen had 18 penalty kick opportunities compared to just one for Fergus Falls.  Otter goalkeeper Ian Stumbo came up with several big saves in the game.
Fergus Falls (0-2) will host Sauk Rapids-Rice on Tuesday at 7:00pm.  Sartell-St. Stephen improved to 2-1 with the win.

The Alexandria and Sauk Rapids-Rice boys’ soccer teams played to a 1-1 tie on Thursday night. No further information on that game has been reported.
